The issues are almost always random and there is a certain chance of at least one network shutting down during every day. There's (rounded) 28,000,000 people on chess.com who are in every country around the world with many thousands of large networks. Networks can fail, and people on that specific network can't access something (502 error).
That also works with chess.com's network. Because all these thousands of networks from every country are connected to chess.com through all the accounts (emails), sometimes chess.com's network can't support all of them and accidentally shuts one of them down for a while as a way to relieve the pressure (502 error).
These errors happen almost every day to at least one person that tries to log on, but it is good to report them to see if chess.com has a pattern of shutting specific servers down and for how long.

"500 ? ?
Server error. Our fault."
But from other people, I've heard this is a 502 error, not 500.
What was the number?
