I haven't had the chance unfortunately. They meet on Mondays which doesn't work for my schedule. Randomly enough I have a buddy at work who competes at the darts tournaments this place has so he sees them playing. So I know they're there! I also tried contacting them on facebook that they should start a club or something here on chess.com but wasn't able to drum up any interest.

That's unfortunate they weren't interested in starting a club. This would be a great place for people who normally can't get there on Mondays to get some games in, or try to setup an alternative weekend event. Mondays usually don't work for my work schedule either. I'll try to message one of the organizers on Meetup and see if there's a possibility of having an alternative meeting day from time to time.

Has anyone met up yet at one of the events? I'd like to go to IRL stuff but I'm swamped lol.

Newport Library's website says their chess club is on a break, but might start up again in the new year. I'll commit to getting there if it gets going again. If interested, send them an email so they know.

I'm looking to play some otb games as well and meet some chess players in the RI area.. just interested in casual games as I'm not that good, but was wondering if there's any place people go to play in 2024.

There's a couple weekly crews in RI that meet up in person. Details in that top link in my original post but their next couple meet ups pasted below. If you go to either of these let us know! I've been trying to get feedback on here if these are 'good' events.

If your near North Kingstown you can give me a shout out if you want to go play at the library.
