there is no point in adding 10 or 20 different types just so that every single historical version can exist here. That would be a waste of time and effort for staff.
could you guys add shogi(japanese chess) to the variants?
Probably not because chess.com is based in the U.S and most of its consumers are from there and Americans don't know anything about Japan or Japanese chess so it is very unlikely and most consumers on chess.com aren't in Japan and also it might be hard to understand for people who aren't from Japan because it uses symbols. I would like it, but I think shogi should be considered a completely different and seperate game than chess. Chaturanga is more fitting because it eventually turned into chess. Chess.com is chess.com, not shogi.com. It would be nice, but wouldn't fit. Shogi just uses completely different pieces than chess.

What does Shogi have that isn’t already possible on Chess.com? What parts of it are realistically likely to be added?
In conclusion, the Lance and Honorable Horse being forward only pieces is the main thing holding Shogi itself back from being available on Chess.com.
For real Shogi, they would have to unlock promotion from pawns.
