AI Stuck thinking anytime I castle

This happens constantly… anytime I castle the AI opponent gets stuck thinking until it times out.  Is there a special movement for castling ? Am I doing it wrong?

I pick up the king… then pick up the rook, then place teh king, then place the rook.

then the lights stay ON around the rook, although it doesn’t beep at me… I then have to move another piece to force an error beep… then the AI just thinks until time runs out.

I always 

1. Pick up the King and place it 2 spaces to the right or left

2. Pick up the Rook and place it on the opposite side of the King

I think I saw it in a YouTube video that it works better that way.
