checks and balances?
All done with mirrors?!

For clarification, the B team match was played earlier on in the month as agreed by Hebden A and C captains plus myself and our B team captain. We obviously would not be able to play two games on the same night!!

There are NO unidentified players. All players used ARE registered in the Calderdale league site and in fact also exist in the Chessnuts DB.
This aside, I can think of better ways for anyone (including yourself) to ask for details relating to the matches in question. I also think that this is the most inadequate way of doing it - by instigating things first on a public forum.
Team captain names for the teams in question are avaialble on the CL website. If you have any questions you can ring!
I personally will refuse to provide any details here.
Thank you

Me think he doth protest too much. I merely mentioned two players supposedly played two matches on the same date, it would seem that somebody must be guilty of something here, but what? Later I mentioned that insufficient information was STILL being shown on match cards(I had circulated a request for more information at the beginning of the season- one reply!!).

First of all - no one has aproached me (personally) with any requests for more information. Fact!
Secondly, results on the Calderdale league are posted online and all the information required is posted. Blatenately there has been a mistake in the date posted on one of the matches (in this case the Halifax B - Hebden Bridge C having been played on a different date to the originally planned). How else could you explain two players playing two matches on the same night?! A bit of very simple deduction would suffice to get to this conclusion.
Forthly - as previously mentioned, this is not the place to discuss this matter.
Fifthly - you still continue to instigate matters by suggesting that someone must be feeling guily. This is completely out of order! I suggest you should think about what you say and get informed adequately before making ANY accusations in a public forum. It does not make you look too good.
Finally, and just to re-iterate things, there has been NO BREACH of any rules. All players involved never played two games on the same night - I still find it difficult to understand the accusation made as it makes no sense! I will ensure that the date posted for that match is amended to the correct date.
I now had my rant and will not reply further.

Firstly if Halifax have had no new players this season or information provided was adequate there would be no reason to approach you.
Secondly information posted should be correct(e.g. dates etc) and adequate. A Dylan Leggett has been playing for Hebden Bridge(my assumption) this season. On Monday's match card there was a D and a DJ shown, so was Dylan, D or DJ and what was the newcomer's full details?Graciously I entered the results of both your matches, even though it looked ridiculous, I mentioned no rules, you and Adrian did that. The vitriol arroused my suspicions- more so now why wait till the 26th to report a match that was played weeks ago?
Thirdly- like you,I will go straight to Fourthly- I will decide where I wish to discuss matters I wish to discuss my dad fought a war for that right.
So back to thirdly I reported an anomoly- you started the discussion.
Finally- I hope there has not been ANY BREACHof any rules. I see Halifax beat Belgrave in a re-arranged fixture, this was of benefit to Brighouse, any extra points Belgrave might get, wouldn't suit me!

I think the Legget's are brothers that have the same first initial. Simply get in contact with John Kerrane and ask their first names.
Maybe Calderdale website should have facility of giving first names rather than an initial.
Also regarding fixture clashes when you enter results there is a function that ask you if game was played on night it was supposed to be or on a different date. Obviously whoever entered this result (which was a Hebden Bridge player) has made an honest mistake and not changed the date to when the match was actually played. Obviously it could not have been played same night as another match. Again all it would take is to politely ask one of the team captains when this game was played. Problem solved!

Hi Nick,
I've solved my problem by resigning the position. I have never been 'polite'.
Comments made showed the short-comings of using one site to feed information to another. As John says 'checks and balances'.
If results are just copied from the Calderdale site where's the check?
Anyway, I'm sure Jon will sort things out for this season's grades before September and that Calderdale will sort summet out. Maybe to keep chessnuts safe everyone should examine their procedures!

Well I like the idea, but if the results are not entered relatively soon after the games are played , then they are completely meaningless, for example the games from the last theo round of the Calderdale Individual have still not been put on and they were completed over 2 months ago.

Does any of it really matter? Your grade is what it is and it will not matter who you play against. Ten points higher, ten poins lower...personally I do not care!

I agree with you really Carlos. I do think people have become obsessed with the live grades. Problem comes as nick says that if they are to be accurate then results need to be uploaded. Though as i said, i would do away with them entirely.

Handicaps? Board order?
An advantage gained from chessnuts is a calander provided for individual players.
The discussion seems to be orbiting round Calderdale, who have their own reporting system anyway, so no problem Mathew, Carlos.
Last night Halifax A played a re-arranged fixture, Scott and Carlos played. They also played for the B team. Wonders never cease!
