@ Mr_crow - Thx for games :D
Analyses of games

Mr_Crow vs. Myk99 - it was a very interesting game; I think Mr_Crow resigned just a little too early for learning sake, but it was understandable due to the position. I hope my analysis here helps. If anyone has anything to add or any criticism to my analysis please feel free. I look forward to your thoughts on this game.

Not sure how it is going with anyone getting some games in. I'm going to attempt to find a group memeber for a live game this evening. We will see.

Very entertaining and insightfull writing there. Only thing I can could see that might be a mistake is that you were talking about e4 for the knight and I think it was d4 you meant. Also interesting to see that you didn't play f4 to lock in the bishop. I'm pretty certain I would have done just that and weakened my position. Interesting. Food for thought :)

Here is the game I managed to get tonight. Didn't see any group members around. Accidently entered the names backwards. Technology error.

Wow, nice miniature. I am a bit suprised that you lost. I hate Bb4 and don't have to explain to you why it's played (f7), but I am in a game right now where some heister also played that move :P
I am suprised with 7. d5. It almost seems as your opponent didn't know en passant which I find hard to believe at that rating.
12. d3 doesn't seem logical to me, because it blocks the bishop, only giving it the b3 field to retreat to. I think I would have played Bb5 and after that maybe even Re6.
14. g4 is also a move that I think deserves ?? behind it.
I have to say though, your opponent took great advantage of your mistakes.

That's funny.. I was playing black in the game. I must have put the names in backwards :D I edited the post to make sure the next person has a chance to read it the right way. I don't play the grand prix as white! I just smash it whenever it comes up.

Wilbert and i have an experimental game where we put our thoughts into the notes section of the game. The idea is to use those thoughts to help locate errors in thinking and perhaps what led us to that moment. Will have to analyze it later.
Heister - Wilbert - 3 days/move

I will post my notes tomorrow. As expected I got hurt, a lot :) Playing with a 2000 rated player for me is the same as playing with a 500 level rated player. I just don't understand :)

1 little comment though, I am trying to become a better player. When I play, I don't look in databases. I do that after the game.
Your notes are very interesting btw, it is so obvious you know so much more. I didn;t know this opening. Was suprised by it. I didn;t want to give up castle rights and lock in my rook. Tomorrow my full notes!

I did a couple small edits, but for the most part these are the notes I took during play. I found myself responding to heister most of the time. My strategy and tactics didn't work out well.

I had this one this evening. I went ahead and ran it with my computer just to see if I missed anything huge. I did. :( 16...e5!

Wilbert - the only thing I see in your notes is not wanting to give up castling rights. My king often ends up in the center or some odd place. Take the game above as an example. It's ok as long as its a safe place! Better experiment with that Kf8 idea instead of running away for another line.

Yeah, I noticed also that I didn't had a plan during the game, I found myself responding to you almost every move. I need to pay attention to that. Ofcourse I will lose when I stop having a plan when someone is attacking me. (not saying I would have won from you ;) ).
Good advice concerning the king. I've been playing the king's gambit accepted a bit with a friend the last week and there my king also ends up in the middle. I guess I just have to get used to that. Probably more an issue in my brain than a real problem on the board if I not castle.

Comments welcome, especially on the final position. Do you think white is ahead? Black is ahead? Or is it drawn?

I think white would have to good chances on the win after 46. Rb6+ Kc5 47. Rgb7 . The pawns on the queenside are easily converted in a passed pawn after that. Black might draw, but I think it would be very hard. (and now I'm going to have a look at wat fritz thinks lol)

Interesting, in the final position houdini/fritz think white is about 2 pawns up. (2.03). It also recommends the moves I said as best play in the position. after those moves the position comes in at a 1.18 advantage for white after h6-h5, or about 1 pawn which is the case. So white has a small advantage, but not by much. So I guess my first thoughts are wrong. It wouldn't be a 'easy' win at all and taking the draw might have been actual the smarter thing to do. :)
I honestly just jot down tough decisions or anything that suprises me. Then in the final review just go move by move and add in any other thoughts. Anybody have any thing to say about the games played so far???
