That space is only blank when you played the best move. Otherwise that space there shows you the best move.

Yes as stated the real estate opportunity occurs when the best move has been made. The display could be conditionally adjusted to move the move lines up and use the space when viewing the best move,.

Hmm. I see your point but also, if you were to quickly scroll though moves, it would cause the notation to weirdly bounce around.

This was a tough call. I've never liked it either, @jas0501. But based on the way this needed to be constructed, removing that space when not needed meant that the move list would bounce around. And that was the most obnoxious thing ever. Sometimes we have to accept little issues to avoid the big ugly ones.
During the course of composing this post I realized this is a minor issue but I mention it anyway. I have 5 lines set in my settings. When viewing the expanded analysis not all five are visible due to lack of real estate.
