I know only 1 player from 2017 and that's modo25 aka lagodiComo, since 2018 there's myself, JustinD7, empty-K3, tommerall949, NightLoveRaver, neoserbian I believe Toni (vrdtmr) maybe Riba. There are other unknown players like Koloso, Krutov...J-0ker probably one of them dee jay typicalmove etc. for teams there's Victor liquid-sun and Lars icystun, there's probably more...Carlos plays for a long time. There are 2 girls MissFairyQueen originally from Estonia, now in US I believe and I forgot the username of the girl that represented the Spanish community in the Solo World Championship finals and many many other players who gave up idk if ebb SirMullih is still playing, Besher and HSCCCalebBrown, GothGirlGames, lagpress (Grathieben started around 2019 I believe) their opinion should be more valued...

@hest1805 also started playing around the same time I did. He was #1 at the time of the 1st W4PCC and he is since @rojitto does not appear on the leaderboard. Also @Spaksi already played at that time he was top 20 a few months ago, but I don't know if he still plays. @a1t19 was in the winners bracket of the first championship with Henrik (hest1805), Billy (neoserbian) and me. He was a substitute last year if I remember right, but I don't know if he played apart from that...

Those are the top players I still remember.

@Typewriter44

Laris wasn't talking about players who are playing for a very long time, he was talking about top players who played since basically the beginning. And Billy, Lars and me are the only three players who played all three W4PCC, so when it comes to championships we are probably the ones whose opinion you should value the most.

That does not mean, that other opinions do not matter. But e.g. @Radon who has a very loud voice has never played a world championship. If you want to know how to set up a twitch stream in a bathroom, he is the one you should listen to, but when it comes to world championships, there are better candidates.

Thank you for calling the “chip on your shoulder” hotline, your call is important to us.

Press 1 for reassurance of your superiority

Press 3 If option 2 has a list size of 0

Press 4 if… let’s be honest you pressed 3 you humble guy you

empty_K3

I Press 1 for now but hope to be able to press 3 after the W4PCC.

And I would never press 2, because those who are better than me, I highly respect.

@Radon, don't worry, even if I press 2, you won't be deleted. tongue.png

Alright, let's discuss the newest announcements:

1. Qualifier Tournaments

I am not super happy about this, because last year @neoserbian and were not able to qualify in these. And also they cost me loads of elo. But ok, elo grow back, so let's not cry about this.

2200 elo minimum seems quite low to me. 2500+ is often very hard to control because the elo is so low. But it would be enough to create fair tournaments. With only 2200+ there will be a lot of luck involved. But ok, with 15 tries sooner or later luck will hit if you are good enough to be hit.

2. Old Standard

Are you f*cking nuts Luke? Really?!? You serious?
We are playing on New Standard/Omatamix for months now. This is a punch in the face for everybody who has been an active player in the last few months.

@fourplayerchess you owe me some private Old Standard Teams lessons now.
We have to discuss your streaming schedule because you have a new format to fit into it now: "Teams Training with Michael"

3. Time Control

I really like 1|7. It's a good time format. For the semi-finals and finals, one or two minutes more on the starting clock would be nice.

4. General Thoughts

For my General Thoughts about all Changes, please check out this post.

Indipendenza

1) as already mentioned many times by Neo and myself, the Arenas format chosen + this low threshold will mean: too much luck needed, skills somewhat less. No lessons have been visibly learned from previous events. Sad.

2) yes strange, but personally IDC.

3) 1|7 is fine, yes.

Oh no, all 7 of you must be so devastated...

Don't worry though, you're an OG so you don't need any lessons on Old Standard because surely you know it better than everyone else!

empty_K3

Well, I guess I have shown two things in the last W4PCC:
1st I am an excellent Solo player.
2nd I really do need Old Standard Teams lessons.

Calling yourself an excellent player isn't going to make people think you are an excellent player. If you don't care about other people's opinion, then why did you post that comment?

Everyone respects your opinions to some degree or another, and everyone knows that you are a good player, but all of these self-validating arguments aren't going to make people like you or win them to your way of thinking.

Yeah, shouldn't he be happy that it's old standard?

empty_K3

Why should I?

Omatamix is the better setup and I played it the last few months.

And as I am not very good at teams, and there are fewer team strategies developed for Omatamix yet I have an advantage in the new setup.

icystun

I played since 2017.

Teaming is a way of life.

You don't need to be very good at teams, you just need to be ok. Something that 3+ years of playing the game really should have taught you. You can't say you're an OG and an expert whilst in the same breath talk about how incapable your basic teams knowledge is for a position that you've been around for years.

So basically you’re saying that you’re bad at old standard even though you’ve already said that you’ve been one of the best players for a long time.

If you are saying that you are bad at teams, then you should be happy because this is the solo world championship and you have done well in old standard solo championships in the past.

What you really mean is that people haven't learned how to play teams competently yet.  In other words, you hold an advantage because everyone else isn't playing as well as they would if this were the old setup.

I am not the best teams player out there. However, I daresay some of my theory videos may skirt around deeper-seated ideas that are helpful for teams. For example, perhaps you may want to dabble in this one to consider the magical possibilities of teams: https://youtu.be/x2smvcx92v0

jbolea one of the greatest players is back now too

empty_K3

@Radon
I was always an enemy of Queens-out-teaming, that's why I never really got used to it.
Should I have learned it? I guess so.
Did I do well without it? Well, I did until last year's finals...

@Darksquareman and @LazyImp
Yes, I am bad at Teams, and in New Standard teams strats aren't that good yet.
So yes, if I don't learn teams my advantage is only temporary.

So we're just gonna have 1500s play? Just postpone it. It's not the biggest deal.
