Since I don't own an Arimaa set, I'm used to using my chess set to play. Unfortunately for me, I map the pieces differently, but this shouldn't be so hard to get used to. How the pieces look doesn't really matter much anyway.
I might like participating, but I worry that I may just hog the thing and deny other players input because of my strength. Also, it would be nice if the game were more even, which likely won't happen if I participate actively. I think it would be best for me to play a mostly advisory role, making only a few moves, and maybe I could help others learn.
I will chose the silver team.
Since most here are likely beginners at the game (correct me if I'm mistaken), it probably doesn't matter much what setup we pick. I really like my own personal setup, and it's nice for people new at the game to see what options there are other than the "99of9" setup. Therefore I will play this move for us to help kick of the game. For the future moves I recommend using notation for clarity, as well as showing the position resulting after our move.
Some that know Arimaa might not like that I am allowing gold to blockade silver's elephant on the first move. It's true that it is often not a good thing to do, but I don't believe this is the case here. I won't go into why unless gold blockades our elephant on the next move.
This is a community arimaa game. Anyone can join a team and make a move. Please post the current game state after the end of your move.
Gold:
Tazerdadog
Silver:
Note that trap squares will not be visible on a chessboard. The pieceequivalents are as follows:
Elephant = King
Camel = Queen
Horse = Rook
Dog = Bishop
Cat = Knight
Rabbit = Pawn
I'll start gold off with the 99 of 9 opening.
