Yes, it's just a chess game but there are other games where the pieces take the visuals to another level with 3D rendered characters/pieces. Would a chess game that looks like this discourage you from playing it?

Chess and animation sounds like an interesting idea in a game. I like it.

To give more clarity of where I'm at in the development process, here's a link to a video of the game I recorded the other night:
It still has all of the placeholder art and I will slowly replace them as I get new ones in.

Thank you for replying. Yes, I am trying to add a different flavor but without breaking the normal rules of chess. I won't disclose the ideas just yet but if anyone is interested in playtesting, I have Windows and Android builds. Send me a DM and I will give you a download link. Sadly, I do not support MacOS yet.

I am new here so thank you for having me. I am currently developing a chess game and I have an art piece that my artist gave me. Personally, I think it looks pretty good but I figured I'd ask you what you think seeing how members here enjoy chess AND animation.
What do you think of this rendition of the white queen?
