Hi I wanted to ask what black could do in this position and also if e5 was better than e6 (because I think it was). What could have happened if black did e5 instead??

Tyler329

if black did e5 black would have lost. e6 is better. 2. e4, e5, 3. qg4 (threatening mate on d7), f5 (only way to stop it) 4. qg6, ke7, 5. qe6

lutobida

ohh ok what could black do in the position here tho (after 4. c4)?

@caavt ok good to know!

Hi guys, i have a question about the Nc3 move, Is it a good move or a bad move, why? I think its good but Stockfish11+ shows us that this move has decreased from +3.4 to +0.9. (Sorry for bad English[My country's education system is not good and I translated these texts.])

IDK if anyone else had responded and had their account deleted, but Imma give my take on it. Personally, I only see Nc3 played very rarely, and usually only by top players to level the playing field or get the opponent out of the opening. It's a distant relative 2N, as usually if black plays c6, most people end up playing Nf3 as well. (because it's less forcing than 2N, and 2N is better, this line is evaluated as worse).

I would say it's a relatively neutral move. Not overpowered, but still has many uses. If you enjoy the lines that come out and don't mind losing a bit more to higher rated opponents, Nc3 is worth to consider.

i think originally caavt answered and was the only one but that accs gone now

the only person i ever see playing nc3 is howlind

its a pretty good opening if u want a fun line

actually the most fun line i know is an nc3 line but it usually doesnt happen unless u and ur opponent are planning to play it (nc3, e5, ne4, qf6)

idk much with the theory tho since i never really play it
