BDG and ...issues.

I have never been able to pin this down but my chess is wildly inconsistent.  For instance, today, i know i dropped 50 points on ICC in fifteen minute games.  Whereas two days ago i was close to 1700 (probably fell bellow 1600 earlier today). I roll on over to chess.com, do some tactics trainer, and think to myself, why not a live game.  I love getting even more madder at myself.  I present a BDG.

Just odd.  am i a lazy player?  i don't think i am, i love chess, but how can i play one way one day and another way on another day?  Anyone ever experience this before?

i just wish i could figure it out.  honestly, i think it's some form of lazziness or chess 'tilt' from playing and losing too many games, but i don't know.  I just want it to stop.

I have to switch up my openings so I don't get burnt out on them, or I WILL start playing like a patzer with them.  Right now, I'm using Bird's Opening, the hippo, and various gambits.  Other times, I employ the Caro-Kann and French defense as black and the English as white, and still others, I'll play a fully unorthodox repertoire.  It helps keep me from getting too bored with one opening.

FOr me, all openings are equally fun to play if you mix 'em up!

you know what, that's a really good point, and now that i think about it, i know there are a ton of times where i probably hammer out moves without even thinking about what my opponent has played and find myself lost.  Which sounds like lazziness to me.  thx.

Glad my comment helped!  Another thing that helps me personally is to change the piece style and the board color every now and then.  I find myself getting bored staring at the same pieces and board after a while and don't pay as much attention as I should.  Perhaps you should give that a try?
