Just a few things you can do on JE for free:

  • Customize your own skin, or download one online
  • Design your own custom resource pack, or download one
  • Download mods (I use a number of performance mods to make the game faster)
  • Download datapacks (basically just mods, but simpler)

Need I go on?

we have all those things except datapacks, but i have to agree mods on java are wayyyyy better than in bedrock

zealoulyguy

im guessing according to you all mods and skins all come from the marketplace but thats not true. I dont really like to compare java and bedrock but both versions has thier strong points and weak points

Depends on your play style, I know bedrock is harder with both less damage weapons and a more dangerous wither, but it does have an different pvp system with no cooldown in attacks.  Java is great with modding and servers, but you can't bridge quickly without a high chance of falling.  While Java is also the more popular of the two versions, Bedrock is more accessible than Java, you can have bedrock with almost every major gaming system out there, even with a PC.  Some people say that Bedrock must be better because a few years ago the names were changed from, Java and Minecraft Bedrock, to Minecraft Java and Minecraft.  In most Bedrock screens you don't even see the word "Bedrock", implying that the creators prefer Bedrock over Java.  Bedrock also seems to be built a little more around microtransactions with maps and skin-packs, but there are also many free packs that you can get on the systems, so it isn't all bad, they also include a skin customizer for free along with emotes, and a way you can earn more skin costomizer items and emotes through playing the game.  One other difference between the two systems is the enchanting system, some of the stats differ, but the main difference is that on bedrock you can see what enchant you will get, this isn't the case on most Java worlds.  This feature can really change how quickly you get enchanted items, and how easily it is to beat the game.

Personally I think they tie out, Java is hands down better with modding and server building, but Bedrock seems to be more stable and more accessible with its system.  Either way they are both fun platforms and I love playing Minecraft in general.

I take my answer back now I like bedrock again

Turns out I was wrong about a lot of the things you can or can't do on Bedrock Edition, and in that way, it's better than I thought. However, I have since played some BE, and it turns out it's worse than I expected. The problem for me is that it seems to be geared for noobs or kids. What do I mean?

  • When I move the mouse, there's a delay between the mouse moving and the FOV moving. And yes, I fixed the vsync thing, and it got a little better, but there's still a delay.
  • Hotkeys don't work in the inventory menu. In Java, you can hover over an item and press a hotkey to move it to that hotbar slot.
  • Bridging. On BE, bridging is not only easier, but it also doesn't make any logical sense. IMO, these are both bad.
  • Blocks take about a 20th of a second to register, even without lag, on a singleplayer world.

I think I said somewhere else that Java is for competitive players, and Bedrock is for casuals, (for the most part).

The problem is saying "features" is very vague. Be more specific please.

Loading more chunks having baby dolphins better red stone easier bridging. And more however java also has other features that are better than bedrock but i wont say them because thats not my point.

Chunk loading isn't a problem if you have a decent PC, or have Sodium installed. Redstoners literally joke about how bad Bedrock Redstone is. The "easy bridging" sucks. Now tell me more "features."

Thankfulbear

What can a decent pc load how many chunks? And easy bridging is just better. But this is an opinion its your own choice chadnilsen  I cant tell you bedrock is better is you think java is better and you cant tell me if java is better than bedrock when i think bedrock i better.

It depends on play style.  Building makes sense for both versions and they are technically two totally different game types because Bedrock was made by scratch for the mobile and console versions.

On the topic of features, what do you define as a feature?  A difference?  An extra add-on?

Both are great versions and there are masters on both sides, both can be played by noobs and casuals.

Example was the first time I ever played Java I started to speed bridge in front of my friends. (This was my first time playing a real computer game as well.)

(I haven't even mastered speed bridging on Bedrock which is my main system.)

On the PvP side you can't say one is better than the other because we can't get Bedrock to fight Java, they are totally different systems and I don't think they can be accurately compared. They both have great systems and are quite fun to play.

That is a lie there are many good bedrock players as well just like pe I can pvp an pc player ez with a mobile device.

chadnilsen

I did not say there are no good bedrock players. But the fact that you, a PE player, can "easily" beat a PC player just proves my point that the average bedrock player sucks. That was not my point, though. My point was that in general, Java is designed better for competitive gaming.
