Berserk - Game Timing

Can there be a berserk option to cut your time in half and to gain 10 more points on to your rating as extra if you win and to subtract also 10 points from your rating if you lose.

zeeeenith

i don't think that's a good idea

Martin_Stahl

In my opinion, I can't see the site adding something that will skew ratings like that.

helloimbadguys

That might make your rating inaccurate, and that just makes your rating worse.

helloimbadguys

I mean that it's harder to win with less time

Zenthirum

Yeah, seems unlikely, but it would be great if they added an option for time odds when playing friends.

King_Thorned

Berserk is a real thing in chess though!

mrfreezyiceboy

Maybe they could make that an option in unrated tournaments or a variant

I agree about ratings.

However, tournament points in Arena adds an interesting component. Needless to say, the idea exists elsewhere (another site).

JkCheeseChess

You definitely shouldn't lose more points for losing a game when you start with less time, but you should definitely gain more (and your opponent should lose more for not being able to win with more time)

RedFastMath

No ratings but it with unrated would be nice. Or best berksat player

notgrumpy

would be broken -- especially considering this situation.

I'm a 1800-1900 player in blitz. Let's say I played a 1300 in 5 min blitz and activated your so-called 'berserk mode', which cut my original time to 2.5 min. Given the large rating point difference, it would still be very likely that I would win the game. Without berserk mode, I would gain 0 rating points because of the large rating point difference. With berserk mode, I would gain 10 rating points 90-95% of the time, which would be very broken.

I agree with what others have said, though. With unrated it could be cool.

This is basically in lichess, their is no point of this in chess.com

King_Thorned

Yes I use lichess too but I enjoy more items in chess.com
