Bro hate mouseslips and don't know about the Move Confirmation feature? then PLEASE add a feature for proposing an undo. Like on Lichess. PLEASE CHESS.COM PLEASE!!!

Avatar of Iamplayerofchess

I suggested this, everyone said that this is in unrated daily games and others said “Are we trying to make this site Lichess?”

There shud be a feature in playing settings

Like for daily games you can turn off the confirmation too

The problem is that it sometimes hard to differentiate from outside between mouse slip blunder and just straight up blunder. How many times I, and likely all of you, made a move and went ‘oh sh..’ second later? Also I have had opponents make a blunder and then in chat say:’oops mouse slip’ when it is clear from the board that there is no chance it was a mouse slip.

I do not oppose such a feature, but it can be annoying to be asked to forgive bad moves. If you make the option, you should also make an option to say I will not accept such requests.

One thing that can be annoying, though, when it comes to these requests not being accepted, is when someone is playing their friend and they, say, mess up a move when they’re trying to test out their new opening. In these friendly games, they cannot ask for a takeback. So, if that move cannot be made in the position whatsoever, they have to resign, rematch, switch colors, abort, rematch AGAIN, make the same moves up til that point, and then continue from there. It’s a pretty tedious process compared to just taking back the move. And that terrible move will not be on your profile, as an added bonus.

I have no problem with that feature be a standard option for example for unrated games.

Mouseslips notwithstanding, learning not to make bad moves is part of getting better at the game. Undoing them is like spell check in Word. You don’t make spelling errors anymore but you don’t become a better speller either.

I can’t see that working.

Honestly, this might be a good idea, but only because you noted the idea that the other player must agree. Chess might be a little unfair thanks to misclicks…

However, it is noteworthy that in chess, things like this happen, but it is not the opponent’s fault; so one can’t guilt the opponent into allowing an undo. This would be highly unfair to some. All things considered, I would not add this feature. :)

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to say that if you misplace a piece you’re screwed lol it happens on the board IRL and therefore I don’t see why it shouldn’t happen on a virtual board

Well yeah of course

I mean usually you can tell if this is a mouseslip or no because mouseslips can be very weird moves that blundering those moves is hard. While blunders are a little more standard. Like for example in a game between grandmasters one just hanging a queen for absolutely nothing is definitely a mouseslip NO WAY it's not.

Avatar of EnCrossiantIsBrilliant

It would be easy to see this is a mouseslip

That being said, it could be annoying, but there could be a similar thing to what offering draws has. For draws, you can disable draw offers for a game.
