BISHOPS OF OPPOSITE COLOUR, WHEN TO CHECK FINE?

A couple of online games recently finished(one TE,t'other Terriers) reminded me of a Woodhouse match many years ago where our player offered a draw when he had a mate in four. When asked why, he replied "bishops of opposite colours"

That half point cost us the title!

Game One Terriers v Team Sussex

Sussex leading at the moment but half a point could be important.

I'm not sure this game ever reached an endgame, just late middle with few pieces. Time for a tune..........

Game Two TE v Team France

England have a fair lead with a long way to go, but needed the win after bad blunders with black. Last game I played a gambit named after an Austrian, this game my opponent played a gambit named after a Hungarian(born in France).

Trouble with these gambits your opponent knows all the lines, you're playing by ear.

Time for a dance............
