a zolotukhin move to qg3 instead of qg4 would have been more interesting for white?
Blumenfeld Gambit games
Boog, thanks for the post. I have not been exposed to grandmaster games before. So I have been trying to go over all the postings you and others made. It is still sort of a mystery to me how they do it. And may never reach their level of perception and strategic moves. Nevetheless, Now I recognize names, and beginning to understand the tune and dance they play on the checkered board.
Thanks again!
The opening is named after the Russian chess master Benjamin Blumenfeld, and was later played by World Chess ChampionAlexander Alekhine.
The opening position can also be reached via Benko Gambit (1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 c5 3.d5 b5 4.Nf3 e6). Possible continuations are 5.dxe6 (Kan-Goldenov, 1946), 5.Bg5 (Vaganian-K. Grigorian, 1971), 5.e4, or 5.a4 (Rubinstein-Spielmann, 1922).[1]
Here are some games from recent tournaments. I've never heard of this gambit before. So if its new to you, its new to me as well.
