I was thinking a useful teaching and learning tool for games is to be able to learn from your mistakes in game. I had two ideas:
The first is a normal live chess game, but it tells you if your move is a blunder/mistake, pauses the game, and either allows the other player (presumably a coach or higher rated player) to explain the mistake, or if the other player is not higher rated, it shows you how that leads to a bad line. Obviously this variant would not be rated, and would only be for educational purposes.
The other variant I was thinking of was a game where two players are given an approximately equal position, and they play it out for some moves, and then whoever is in winning after those moves wins the round. This would be a helpful learning tool for players to be able to learn how to influence a position to their favor, and it would allow for learning similar to doing puzzles or puzzle battle but in a more open ended way.
