Full splits!  That is hardcore!

Quite a regimin there Knatted, I'm envious.  I've been wanting to get into martial arts for a long while now but have been  moving around too much for it to be practical (I want to stay with one school for a long period).

Right now I'm just starting to get myself in shape.  I just turned thrity & I know if I don't start taking care of myself (particularly my back) now I will severely regret it later).  Every morning I try to workout for at least half-an-hour.  I mix it up, I always do at least 15-minutes on my rebounder (mini-trampoline) which really gets the blood flowing.  I've been doing push-ups daily for a bit over a week now (not much yes but like I said, just getting going again).  Do three sets, usually about 15-25 per set (I try to do fewer slower rather than more faster & with poor form).  I've just started this week with some hand weights based on recommendations from my friend Elta (who will hopefully be joining us here Smile).

I would like to do more yoga & stretching, this is critical for me beacause I'm tall & have back issues (exaserbated by a car + bike accident, I was on the bike, back in 2000).  I have a video called "Strength & Flexability" which is a 30-minute range-of-motion routine which I find more engaing than yoga so I'm going to try to do this at least 2x a week.

As you can see I'm very much a beginner.  Even in one week though I am starting to feel much better.

My diet is as much organic as possible (I buy in bulk so I save alot of money which is good), as much greens as possible.  I make a lot of quinoa with vegetables, other grains also like buckwheat & sometimes rice.  Since I've been working out I've been drinking hemp protein shakes which I like the taste of & tend to quell my appetite when I'm not really hungry.

One thing I'd like to get under control is my sleep scedule.  I tend to have insomnia many nights.  My biorhymes are way out of wack from so much late-night Interneting!

That you will~good choice!

As for insomnia~Light stretching 2-3 mins before bed followed tensing and release of each muscle group 1-2mins, then breath awareness once under the covers may solve your insomnia all together. Give it a try. A half dose of melatonin, say around 1 or 2 milligrams will aide in a deep sleep too.

For Breath awareness (meditation) just focus all your attention on the area of incoming cool air as it hits the nostril. Then note the warmer air as you exhale. It is okay to use your imagination a bit to enhance this so long as it remains solely on the breath. If a thought arises let it go and refocus on the breath.. bonne nuit...ZzzzzZzzzzzz
