BRADFORD A Good Read
on here Dave, just on the right of gruops at the top of the page. I think it's a really old addition Dennis, John Holliday added some comments to it nearly 2 years ago....

i think it is funny that tony complained about keighley defaulting a board without letting him know then a week later he defaults all 6 boards against clayton without so much a mention to anyone

Interestingly, the college graduates had a bit of a do with Keighley also. Out of good will we informed Keighley that we would be fielding 5 players so they could have the default, allowing them to travel in one car. Filling out the teamsheets, their captain Chris Watson, requested that the defaulted board be board 5, I explained that it wasn't possible since it was our board 6 player that was missing. later on during the Watson vs Pullan game, Chris picked up his queen and took the h3 pawn of his opponent, halfway through this move he realised that if he did this he would be checkmated, so he let go of the pawn and replaced his queen on c7 before picking it up once more and placing it on c8. Mr Pullan remonstrated and so I was requested to adjudicate. Chris wasn't happy that I declared that Sunil Pullan was correct and initially wanted to go to independent adjudication but after explaining the tale to several other players decided to drop the issue.

Ah Bradford- Land of the Rescinded Move!
When I questioned committee procedure concerning this sort of thing (where a game had been voided- thus giving the cheat a draw) I was informed that clubs involved in the dispute had not voted. Chris did vote, South Bradford were relegated, Keighley saved. Maybe the result of your match didn't depend on one game.
I nearly came a cropper last week with a move I made in the Leeds league. I grabbed my bishop and thrust it towards, oh sorry that was something else
