Bug Report/Feature Request

I have made the following bug report/suggestion to both DGT and to chess.com.  I'm uncertain if this will get anyone's attention, but I suspect that it will get more attention if more people see these issues and voice similar concerns.  If you see these issues and would like to see them fixed, please feel free to make similar requests.

Chess.com will sometimes record inaccurate captures when using a DGT e-board. I believe this happens when I make a move before Chess.com has seen the update for my opponent’s last move from the board. For example, my opponent moved h3. I moved Bc6, but chess.com recorded Bxh3 immediately after I lifted the bishop from c8, and before I placed it down on the board. I believe chess.com knew there was a pawn on h3 because my opponent moved it there, but the update from my board somehow didn’t include the pawn on h3 yet, so as soon as I lifted the bishop it though I must have captured the pawn on h3.

Also, I sometimes make my opponent’s moves inaccurately on the board. When this happens, chess.com carries on as if I had made the move correctly. It would be much better if chess.com would make a buzz sound to indicate I have made an error when it receives my update inaccurately.

In either of the above, I suspect all problems would be solved by requiring chess.com to receive updates from my board showing the moves my opponent makes recorded from the board before allowing my subsequent move to be recorded and issuing a buzz if any illegal, inaccurate, or if my move has been made before my opponent’s move as been recorded correctly.

Is there anything I can do to help facilitate these changes?

I have experienced something similar when my opponent captured one of my pieces and I go to recapture. Sometimes the recapture is made as soon as Iift my attacking piece from the board and before I actually place it where my opponents piece was.

Not sure if this is exactly the same but sounds similar

@baronvonchickenpants that sounds like the same issue.   You might also report it to chess.com and DGT so they know what I reported wasn't a fluke or in error.

In my experience this happens when my piece is captured, and I already know I'm going to recapture. So, they play their move, I pick up their capturing piece, pick up my captured piece and them pick up the piece I am going to recapture with. At that point my recapture is played on chess.com.

It doesn't happen every time and so it's hard to test for

Yes.  I have had it capture when I wanted to capture too.  In my case, when recapturing a pawn that captured a pawn.  The issue I had most recently was not that case at all, which I think gives a little more insight as to the nature of the problem.  I have started capturing sniffer traces of the websocket communication and dev console logs.  Today, I've seen a different problem.  Today's problem is that 3 of my moves were not recognized in chess.com until I re-made them.  I checked the websocket data, and the moves were communicated properly to the chess.com web app.  Hm...

Completely agree. If one updates the opponent move incorrectly, the game becomes senseless; the feature is a must. No advertising, Acid Ape Chess (Android) shows how to do this (but does not support playing on chess.com).

Please enable DGT e-Board to function while playing one of chess.com bots.  After enabling the DGT board in settings, then setting up a game against a bot, it loses this function.

That's very bad. There is a list of bots here. Challenging the Komodo Bots works with the DGT board. So playing against the computer is at least possible. But when challenging the other bots, sure more fun, the requests time out. And Play / Computer - no way with the DGT board here. What's going on?
