When playing the computer, if I go to the iPod home screen then go back into the chess.com app and resume my game, it reloads the board position, but loses the movelist and lists my next move as move 1.  I haven't tried to replicate this - still on my first game vs. the computer.

(sorry I posted this in the wrong place originally)

I've also noticed that the board colors are turned around a lot of the time, even when normally going into a game. The Queens are NOT on their color :)

It looks like my Tactics Trainer rating is gonna take a beating, but it's a price I'm happy to pay.  I have no idea how I generated this many skipped problems from the iPhone, but I'm going to keep close to the computer as I continue to use TT on the iPhone so I can figure out how to reproduce this...

Notice that I'm getting slapped for skipping the same problems over and over...

Also, notice that the iPhone skips don't say "0/2" etc., but rather just " /2".

Tactics Trainer "Action" menu:

"Cancel" button does nothing, similar to previous report about same button on the other action menu.

Yeah, I'm also showing a lot of Skipped problems, though honestly, I wasn't paying enough attention to say whether it was because of anything I was doing, or whether I was just playing with controls.

DeepGreene

It seems like, if I get a tactic wrong and then hit "Stop" on the pop-up, I'll often get 2-3 "skips" for the same problem in my record.  I'm also suspicious of the Action menu (because once you're in it, you're stuck - unless you, say, jump to Settings and then back again - and who knows how many times you are 'skipping' the problem in that series of jumps).

Also, I wonder what should *really* happen if you say "stop" to the dialog, after completing a problem.  There doesn't seem to be much point in just being left there, staring at the position - and currently there doesn't seem to be any way to restart.  Even if you go to the Home page and re-enter Tactics, you end up at the same problem, stopped.

EDIT:  The only way to "restart" once you've stopped is to "Skip Problem" which really does register as a skipped problem, whether you've already solved it or failed it.  And sometimes it 'skips' more than once.  And sometimes the problem you skip to is frozen and you've got to skip again.  Skippy-dee-do-dah.  Heavens, my TT rating was in the 3-digits there for a second!  Surprised

"Play Computer" remembers the last position viewed in Play Chess Online.

To reproduce:

- View any online game.

- Exit the app

- Re-open and select Play Computer

In my case, I get the same position I last viewed among my online games - and then the computer actually moves.  (I better not get accused of using an engine because of this.)  ;-)

The computer also 'remembers' the last position you played in Tactics Trainer, if that's where you were last.

DeepGreene

The Home screen buttons should take you to each of the three option-areas in their default state, I think - but right now, there is too much 'remembering' going on.

For instance, go to Tactics Trainer and use the Action menu to go to Settings.  Then hit the Home button at the bottom of the screen.  Then hit Tactics Trainer.  You're back in Settings.  That doesn't seem right to me, although I suppose it's debatable.

21) Ok, I got one Online game under 24 hours, and it shows as "23 hours", so that works fine.  However, after making moves in most of my games, now NONE of my completed games are showing the "2 days".  So I give up on that. Tongue out

22) After I had completed testing for the night, I happened to leave up the app in Tactics Trainer... and after half an hour or so, it had KILLED my battery -- while it was plugged in!  Dunno if there's anything you can do about that, but that was a major battery hog.

In the video menu, you can tap a video (anywhere except the "play" button), and the item's cell will turn blue, as if selecting it meant something. (?)

I was hopeful, given the limited information viewable in the menu, that tapping the video's menu cell would go to a "detail" screen, showing the full title, description, author, tags and duration of the video, as well as a "play" button, of course.

I guess that's more in the suggestion category...  Smile

The program crashes when trying to access a Chess 960 game.

I will log in, and click Online Chess, and not all the time, but a significant portion of the time, the buttons below the chess board will be all white-looking and nothing is there.

This is happening to me also: frequently the buttons below the board in Online Chess are solid white with nothing there..

Furthermore, since installing the app my iPhone home screen has changed - the bottom row of icons (mine has the phone, mail, calendar and contacts apps there) - the one that stays the same even if there is more than one page of apps installed - now has a silver background with small black dots that the icons appear on.  Unless I've gotten paranoid with the problems I had with the chess.com install (similar to what several people mentioned - I originally got an error message within iTunes about an 'unknown error') I'm 99% sure that the background of all the apps' icons were solid black.

Anyone else have this problem?

woah!! I never noticed that either. Can we verify it was like that before? Mine is the same way!

My iPhone "Dock" looks as you describe it and has always looked that way.

DeepGreene

It would be good to hide or disable the "Resign" and "Accept/Offer Draw" buttons on the Action menu for finished games.

I can´t install the profile on the itunes. Itunes says that my iphone 3G os 3.0 can´t reproduce this file.

JRMScooter

Online Chess - I'm not able to move any piece when it's my turn.

I can tap the other buttons on the bottom of the board and they react.

Right you are.  I just checked the looks of my son's iPhone (he's not installed the chess.com app) and that does appear to be the standard look.  OK, so I WAS being paranoid!

Graybeard

Is there some way that you know if your opponent has left an in-game message (i.e. not vie the server message system, but using the message window within each game)?  That would be very helpful since on the iPhone app you don't see that window on the game screen.

arhoads76

The application "Chess" was not installed on the iPod because an unknown error occurred (0xE8008015).

Could it be due to upgrading to 3GS and having a different device id than I submitted earlier?
