When playing Online Chess against human opponents, If you open up a game where it is your move, and leave the screen on for a while there without making a move, this alert will pop up saying:

Time Stamp: 00000000
Moves: (here it lists every single move for that game you have open.)
at bottom it has an ok button, and once you hit it, it closes it, but instantly opens it again, and you cannot get out of the game unless you hit the home button on your ipod and start over.

However if you select a game from the list and then go back to the game list, the iPhone system info bar at the top (battery, clock, signal strength etc) will overlap the screen and partially cover the "Home" and "New Game" buttons.
How:
1. Go into Online Chess

ONLINE CHESS
I'm having a problem with pawn promotion in online chess. I have tried several times to promote a pawn in a game. After selecting queen as the piece to which to promote the pawn and the hitting "Confirm" to confirm the move, the move is not recorded.
I am also getting the same error message as sjolden in online chess.
- Game ID: 999999999 (example number)
- Time Stamp: 00000000
- Moves: (here it lists every single move for that game you have open.)
Also in online chess the Occasionally the screen has white bands (a small one at the top obscuring the game information and a larger one at the bottom obscuring everything below the board). Cosing the application and restarting it fixes this problem.
TACTICS TRAINER
An alert will also pop-up occasionally if you are idle for a period of times giving you the correct moves for the tactic displayed.
I am having trouble recreating it, but I think the trainer does not give partial credit for puzzles where some of the moves are correct.

Yes. Seems to apply to many screens accessed from a game-screen - for instance, the "Online" screen (games list) has the same problem when accessed from a particular game screen. Same goes for the Chat screen, etc. Might as well just suppress the status bar everywhere in the app.

Context: Videos - Video list screen (for instance, after selecting "Tactics" from the Videos intro screen)
Problem: The "More..." button on the bottom of the list does nothing.
~~~~~
Context: Play Chess Online > Game screen for a particular game
Problem: Is the new ">>" button supposed to take me back to the game list? That's what it's doing now. If that's its purpose, it's not got a very intuitive icon.
In Online Chess, in most of my games (but not all of them) in the chat area, it will not show the top few chat bubbles of a conversation. It will show all of the middle and bottom bubbles, and it will scroll down excessively more than it needs to, but won't scroll up far enough.
Context: Play Computer > Setup Position
Problem: I keep getting mini-crashes (i.e. setup shuts down and I end up at the Home screen or sometimes my Online games list, which is strange) after trying to set up the pieces after first clearing the board.
I probably should take the time to better verify this, but I want to see if others have noticed something similar... I played a game against the computer last night, and for the first 7-10 moves (many of which were probably book), the computer was very solid. Then I made a stupid error and made several more moves before deciding to give myself a 'do-over': I backed up to the point of my blunder, made a better move and proceeded.
From this point on, the computer seemed suicidally short-sighted. It seemed incapable even of moving its own stuff out of take on several occasions and I won pretty much effortlessly. Oh, and I had my computer strength set to the default, about half-way along the slider.
I'm going to continue testing to see if taking back moves has any effect on the computer's smarts.
As an aside, I'd love to know more about this engine. What is it? What kind of strength should I be expecting at either end (and the middle) of the slider bar? Finally (and this is more of a suggestion), I think the strength-selection tool could be better. The slider is OK, but it should be a longer bar, and there should be some visual indicator of what strength I've set it to; alternatively, a set of levels to choose from would also be a big improvement.
Cheers
Here's an easy one.. in the online chess create an open challenge screen, if you change the days per move setting, and then change any other setting, the day per move will revert back to 5. It only uses the setting you want if you change the days per move last and then click create challenge.
iPhone Tactics Trainer doesn't seem to ever award 'partial credit.'
In other words, if I get 1/2 of the moves right and then check my history online, the problem shows up as a 0% and I lose more points than I would have, had I been using the web version.
