Problem: Bug

The icon of the app shows a red ballon with the number of games I supose to have waiting for my move (five games) But the fact is that no mater whether I get into chess.com with my mac or with my iphone I have no waiting games.

did you uninstall and reinstall?? anyone else having this problem?

Yes I deleted both from iphone and itunes. I go to the bed I´m really tired. Tomorrow I will repeat all the procedure (but I think I did it ok). See you tomorrow. Good night

Somebody made a dubious move... and the page you attempted to visit cannot be found! It either never existed, or has been removed.

I must say, the new version is much better: I'm very impressed with the work that's been going on here.

Occasionally (maybe 1/10 of the time), you will open the game, and only the board will be there: there is just white around the outside.  All options, the names, and the previous moves are gone.  To stop this from happening you have to leave the app, then reload it, as the same happens if you just go back to 'Online', or 'Home', and get the game back.

Well done on some great improvements!

- Play Computer - "Hint" is still going ahead and immediately making the move for me; that isn't really the intention here, is it?

unfortunately, that is still the behavior. we're looking into changing it, but it might not make it in this first version.

don't assume bugs are still known. assume we know nothing (which is mostly true...)

On the chat, in online games, you can only scroll up 1 or possibly 2 messages above the current one.

on a more serious note, i sent the game through the app, which is a VERY cool feature. it worked perfectly.
side comments: I very much like how under the app icon it says "Chess"--- owned! Also, the main page, how there was a addition of a video lessons button, plus the play learn share in orange.. Very nice!

The problem is still there, the red ballon with the number 5 is still on the app icon.I have reinstaled four times. On online chess in the iphone I have 5 finished games and no running games, but I fact I do have some running games (not five).

I thought I commented on this yesterday, but apparently not.  Why does the Result here show as "X-X" and not "1-0"?

I just watched a video in its entirety and waited to see what the app does when a video ends.  The good news is that it nicely reverts back to the video menu page where I selected the video (Pawn Endings 1 by FM Zierk if it matters).

However, within a few seconds, I once again could hear the theme music that plays when a video is starting.  Sure enough, it proved to be the audio from the video I'd just finished, replaying itself.  I went to the Home screen, but it didn't stop here either.  At that point, I restarted the app.

I'm not sure this qualifies as a defect, but following from a similar thread about other iPhone chess apps, I thought I'd check to see if the chess engine can find mate on the winning end of K vs. K + B + B (starting from the position below).  Even at max strength, I (white) get a draw every time.

A few thoughts on the >> button...

This one shows up below the chessboard in both Online Chess and Tactics Trainer.  (In Play Computer, it's replaced by a "+" button that opens a sort of dialog screen for starting a new game.)

In Online Chess, hitting ">>" causes the chessboard-screen to slide out to the right, returning the user to the game list.  At first, I just thought it was strange that a "fast forward" button would take me "back" to the list.  I'm trying to convince myself to read it as meaning "slide the game screen to the right and uncover the list again."  It's not easy - because it looks so darn much like a fast-forward button - but I've been making progress. 

However, what's also working against me is the Tactics Trainer's use of the same symbol for a completely different meaning.  Here, hitting ">>" has the effect of moving "forward" to a new problem... which is great, taken by itself.  It's just that ">>" is a very slippery symbol depending on where you're at in the app.

In my view, the real problem is with the Play Chess Online instance.  It's just wrong that the "fast-forward" button and the "Back to Games List" button in the Action menu here do the same thing.

But what to replace it with?  Maybe you'd want something that represented a iconic 'list' - but, of course, that's what the Action Menu button looks like already... 

How about just one triangle, pointing in the other direction?  Or a little circle with a left-pointing triangle inside it?  Or something like these, which I think is quite common in iPhone apps:

Once every two or three Tactics Trainer puzzles or online chess games, you'll get the 'Alert' message, with the moves from the game.

the FAST FORWARD button in online chess moves you to your next ready game. if you don't have one, it takes you back home. i think that's why it's confusing you deepgreene

The problem is solved. How? I´m not very sure. I just open each finished game on the iphone and on chess.com, I also remember to activate and deactivate and activate push notifications... I don´t know how but it is solved.  

Push notifications still doesn´t work for me. The red ballom only changes when you open the app
