I was chatting to a friend of mine and I checked what time they were online last; it said 2 hours but the note said it was posted 23 mins ago:

This has been reported multiple times, once today even in a slightly different context.

When and how that updates depends on a number of things. For example, an app that always stays logged in, won't  change the last login time, so it will show the last login event.

My understanding is there is a project around status updates. Also, pretty sure that value is last actual logon (putting in username and password) and doesn't update to last activity time.
