Halifax 'A' feel a lot better to see this result.  Darwin said Hebden Bridge 'C' were a bit "lucky".  Halifax 'A' were "lucky" to beat Tod 'C' because Lee Mount (area) suffered a powere failure and some games were agreed drawn whereas......  Todmorden 'B' look like an awsome team although Barrie Wadsworth was unlucky to lose on top board.

That win gives Barrie's oponent a grade of 190, will Rob keep it up?

No, I won't... Wink

Hi. Smile

I had to log in here to comment on the power failure as it was quite unusual.

I was lucky in that game against Barrie Wadsworth. Lucky to have the black pieces, and lucky to have most of them positioned on black squares when the lights went out... They were kind of hard to see with only limited emergency lighting, and I did feel somewhat guilty as an 'newcomer/outsider' not agreeing to the offer of a draw that had already been made moments before it all went dark.

My opponent blundered his only remaining minor piece in the end-game - although in my defence, it was after the lights came back on!

I am playing for Todmorden to supplement my games after changing clubs in Lancashire. I've been pleasantly surprised by the numerous web sites showing all the results. It's really good. Of course I would be rather less pleasantly surprised if I had lost them all and seen that published.

There have been no matches reported from Lee Mount since 17th October, is the power back on yet?

Avatar of VirgoScorpio

Lights are still out in Lee Mount and there's nobody home :)

Just to make you aware that lots of published games from the Calderdale League/Yorkshire League and a few others can be found on the Hebden Bridge web-site then follwing the sub-link Nick Sykes games! I have even added the games I have found on here hope Dennis, Paul, dave don't mind. If you want a game to go on there just ask. I think it is the most comprehensive location of games from the CEL around 500-600 games from 2005-2011!

P.S. I tried to put the link in but I got my account closed for doing it!

P.P.S If anyone want the PGN of all the games for their own database just let me know! This will make it easy if you want to search for a particular opening/player

Nick, I have put a link on Website of the Month, I couldn't get it on LOCAL-clubs.

Some players may be reluctant to post too many games as it allows future opponents to prepare for them - particularly if someone can have a database of a players games!

Avatar of rekorts

I'd rather future opponents did play through my games. They'd be as confused as I am!

What is a database- an Italian dish?

Dave, is your match on tonight?

Avatar of quequeg

As far as I know - Halifax B vs Courier B - I have a full team and no-one has said anything about a problem.  Is there a problem?

Avatar of nosykes

@ Dave Colledge

I see what you mean about preparation!

It could give people an edge. It would be a shame if it did detract people from publishing their games. HB players as you know have had pretty much all their games published on Dave Shapland's site for the last 2 seasons. So we really are exoposing ourselves to be being "prepped for" as Dave was against Malciolm Corbett last week! However we don't mind really as we feel it gives enjoyment for other players, not only from our club but also from different clubs.

Anyway your opening repertiore should be good enough to withstand any opening preperation from your opponent!
