Yes, there are size limits but I don't know what they are. Make sure the image is less than 5 MB (though it might need to be smaller) and use regular image formats.

I have tried uploading all kinds of image extensions and sizes but none of them seem to work. Would appreciate assistance.

what file type are you using? thats the only thing that comes to my mind that could interfere
actually i think custom backgrounds are just bugged rn
the background should be visible in the custom area, but it isnt there. also when you check my profile, the background is just the default wallpaper
edit: i selected a preset and then changed it back to custom and it kept the preset wallpaper for other people, but i see the one i uploaded
they work but some don't work for some reasons

I wanted to change the background of chess.com so I went to themes and in background I selected custom and when I got to upload the file the website says "Oops. Looks like there was an error. Sorry! Please refresh"
I am wondering, are there any file size and dimensions limitations or is it a bug ?
