How to Reassess Your Chess by Silman
Chess book recomendations?

As an old fogey, I lean to old books. I like Reuben Fine's "The Ideas behind the Chess Openings" and "Chess the Easy Way" (if there is such a thing!). I also like Aron Nimzowitsch's "Chess Praxis" and "My System"; both of these are available in 21st Century Editions (translations from descriptive notation to algebraic notation).
Forget the books. just study your end game, and puzzle's {traps, pitfalls, and swindles). let the game come to you. it's better that way. there is only one variation that matters and that the next right move. !!!

The Complete Idiots Guide to Chess by Patrick Wolff. Don't let the title fool you. I am serious. Recommended by noted coach Dan Heisman.

For that the How to Reassess Your Chess and The Complete Idiots Guide to Chess are two of their best bets I would wager.
''The art of checkmate'' will change your life.
Judged as a book that actually tries to teach something, it's the best chess book I've ever seen. Also the best judged by how much fun it makes chess after reading.

I recommend a couple books on my blog, with an index to their games.
