Chess.com Homepage/Clubs Issues 2/7/23

Thank you for the questions in the notes section! Just wanted to post something a little bit more permanent here to refer to later. 

Does anyone know why the option to put club events and clubs on your home page has disappeared?

I just spoke with the dev in charge with the homepage. A few options from the homepage have been temporarily been disabled to help with the server issues.

Chess.com is working very hard to ramp up the servers so we can handle the massive growth in chess recently! https://www.chess.com/blog/CHESScom/an-update-regarding-our-server

Glad to see the home screen settings and particularly the clubs information is back to normal.

Club events are back up as a homepage option as I see it. Please let me know if you have any issues. 

it seems I spoke too soon. Yesterday the home screen settings and club settings were restored. Today, they have all disappeared again. 

Andrew, have you heard anymore about the homepage problems? Are they working on fixing this, or are there bigger fish to fry? Thanks, and I apologize for missing the most recent webinars / social gatherings on zoom. Lately they have been scheduled for times when I was away.

Hey Greg! The homepage has at times been back to normal and others is missing the club information, this is again due to server issues. Which Chess.com has had a lot less of lately. ETA for serves to be fully scaled up is end of March then everything should be back to normal! 

The team is also working on a bunch of improvements to the club experience! 

Is this a (semi) permanent change ? If it is, how about having a couple of links on the home page, one for "my clubs" and one for "my club events" ?

The end of march is over a month away and deadlines could slip.

For the time being I would recommend going to your club page as you'll be able to see any club news or upcoming events there as well.

Yes but if you're a member of several clubs which all have events on, there's no easy way of seeing  all of them at once as far as I know. It means club members have to click on social, then clubs, and then select a club and then they might see any events. I don't think most members will bother and most of them probably won't know that they have to click on social to get to a club anyway.  

I fear chess.com has forgotten about this problem, or worse, decided it's not worth fixing.

This seems to have been completely forgotten about. I don't know if it's coincidence but since the new version of the club page has gone live, we're getting fewer players at club events. It seems to have become even harder to get to a club page and find out what's happening.
