Is this new? I have messaged club members without problems. Many of them especially around World League match time.
Chess.com mute policy for private group admins

For having been muted myself for administrating last year I can only agree. It's even worse that that: when you are muted, the forum posts and announcements you make are hidden, compromising the stability of a group!

One of the sites I have some draughts clubs in I can send 10 messages at once. They should allow that here. Or at least more than one. There is also news there but messages are specifically for certain people. It’s hard work here.

The intention is that if you need to message a lot of members is to use the Announcement feature. That allows members that don't want to receive club communications to opt-out.

That only works if you want to send something to the whole club. Often you want specific sorts of players. Live players or daily players or certain ranges.
Eg. There is no point in bothering the whole club for an under 1200 rated match.
or a 1400-1700 rated match.

I could be wrong but with the privacy and club alert options, it would seem the site is most interested in being sure members are allowed to limit the messages they receive and I can't imagine a blanket allowance for club admins to send all members messages, regardless of their settings, is likely.

If we can’t send our members messages. They are removed from the club. I.e. If they block admins. Being part of a club means being able to be contacted by those in charge for whatever reason.

Martin, I'm not suggesting all members. Just the ones that have joined the private club and want to be part of the club and therefore by joining want to know what the club is doing. And being muted for sending group members messages is just nonsense.

I think the way announcements are notified should be changed. Now they appear as messages from the author, which is very confusing. They should be notified more like notes maybe. But it doesn't solve the overall issue.
The policy of Chess.com for private group messaging is unrealistic and overly authoritarian.
There have been many instances where group Admins have been threatened with sanction by Chess.com and then have been muted for managing the group.
It is unacceptable for Chess.com to require that group admins are responsible for the administration, moderation, development, and management of private clubs and then sanction Admins for performing that function when they send messages to group members.
Therefore, the proposal is 'Chess.com shall always allow direct messages to be sent from group admins to all group members without restriction or blocking. Chess.com shall no longer send warnings to group admins for multiple messages to members of the group. No mute sanction shall ever be applied to group admins for messaging private group members.'
Chess.com may argue that they are protecting general members from spamming. However, if a member has voluntarily joined a private group they can expect that Admins will want to inform them of group activity and accept they can be contacted in regard to any group issue. Ulitimately if a site member doesn't want to receive private group messages they can leave the group. Their choice.
Chess.com have stated many times that they do not interfere with the activity within private groups. It is clear in this situation they will be and are actively involved, unnecessarily in group activity.
