Chess.com put me against someone 200 points higher than me for some reason

The matchmaking is so dumb, literally for almost the past ten rapid games I've played (Before this game), they've all been with black, and then they finally let me play with white and they put me against a 2000? nice

This was yesterday btw I was just too tired to analyze it last night

I was watching that game live lol, also I play that, it’s called the Janowsky-Indian Defense (1.d4 Nf6 2. c4 d6 3. Nc3 Bf5 (Janowsky Indian)). I even wrote a forum on it:

my rating is very overrated right now anyway so it's a bigger deal cause I'm more of a 1600 tbh

You can change the rating settings, I made sure I only get matched with people -25 or +150 in relation to my rating...

I’ve noticed when I start getting on a winning streak or just start playing really well and winning a lot of games, I get paired against higher rated players (100-300 ELO higher), but they seek to be the “weak” versions of their rating, and when I play poorly and start tilting, I get paired against lower rated players who seem to be much stronger than their rating.

my guess is when when the system sees you progressing quickly, it starts matching you against players who are higher rated but are struggling to 1.) see if you can handle the lower abilities of that rating level and 2.) to see if these higher rated players need a heavy ELO reduction since they’ve been struggling against players at their own rating.

hope that makes sense

You’re probably overthinking things.

It's this belief that lets you win...

I don't get what you don't get...

I don’t get how thinking he’s overthinking things allows... who to win?

him because he doesn't feel like he's a worse player... for example, because of your rating (not games wink.png) I think of you as better than me... playing you a few times and seeing if I get chances would change or enhance that opinion... and therefore impact the way I would play against you (for draw or win...)

Oh
