I considered "Ending"'s as Chapters. My bad.

Thanks both! Learnt many times in life to get multiple opinions on things for the best results and always helpful when they agree!

I've found that the best way I learn endgames is just experience and taking the time to understand the idea afterwards, probably means a whole lot of losses but at least it'll create results over time! These discussions should help this idea stick with me as well so thanks again for taking the time.

Very interesting position, i wish i got more endgames and less games that end in the middlegame. How do you get a position like that?

I am just the opposite. I prefer a check mate in the middle game. To do that I try to keep as many pieces on the board as possible = more check mate opportunities. So my guess is to get to the end game as fast as possible is to eliminate as many pieces with equal trades (simplify) as fast as possible?

Excellent video by CM Can Kabadayi on a passed pawn creation pattern when having a pawn majority: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YgRxK7FUtzs

What i thought was an instructive idea (and hopefully worth sharing) in this endgame to remove the Knight from play with Bishop h5. In this position if the pieces are removed the King and Pawn endgame should be a nice easy win, especially with so much time to calculate.

Here the knight gets trapped by its own pawns and the Bishop will be forever safe on g6 if needed.

Once black is forced to make a move they don't like the win is secured and the less reasonable moves that they have the sooner that occurs.

Interesting rook endgame between Gukesh and Vishy from the Tech Mahindra Global Chess League today: https://www.chess.com/events/2025-tech-mahindra-global-chess-league-main-event/23/Gukesh_D-Anand_Viswanathan

Interesting position from a league match that I got wrong (but not punished), although down to seconds so not feeling bad about this. Thought I'd share as its hopefully quite interesting and informative.

Would encourage people to look at it without an engine first.

For anyone looking for a great Endgame book, I would recommend Silman’s Complete Endgame Course: From Beginner to Master by Jermey Silman. This book contains a lot of practical endgame information divided into categories based on rating, so anyone of any level can understand endgames. It is also explains the material in a very easy to understand way.

Absolutely agree. It should definitely be someone's first endgame book.
