I am considering hosting an in-club chess imperialism tournament. For those who don't know what this is, basically ~30 or so candidates sign up and are "placed" on a country's map (normally representing individual states). Then, I randomly choose a player (or a state) and spin an arrow, and depending on where the arrow points, the selected individual will have to play the closest person in that direction in an actual chess game. The winner will capture the loser's territory, with the goal being to conquer the entire map.
I first ask for admin approval to host this event; let me know what you think of this idea. If permitted, I will create a separate sign-up forum.
