Probably a terrible idea as my previous one gained a LOT of backlash, but here goes: In this chess variant, pawns promote to generals, which move like a king and knight on the 13th row. Kings can move into check as game design to avoid stalemate. Camels which move in 3-1 L shapes are added for more variety. Resigned pieces still move and winner is still determined by points.
