Tournament Overview
- Each annual tournament starts in December of the preceding year.
- Teams are divided into two divisions. A new team entering the competition normally will start in Division 2.
- The winner of Division 1 is the Asian League Chess960 CHAMPION for that year.
- The top two teams from Division 2 will move to Division 1, and the bottom two teams from Division One will move to Division 2 for the following year. So as to have a better spread of teams across the two divisions, one or more other teams may also be promoted or demoted, as decided by the AL Management.
- For each match won, the winning team receives 1 point.
- For each match lost, the losing team receives 0 points.
- For each match drawn, the teams receive 0.5 points each.
- No points are received by any team for a bye.
- The round robin tournament system is used in both divisions.
- Vacation time is allowed in all matches
