Accepted Martin. The site owners dictate what is priority, not the members. At some point if a minority group of members do not feel they are being catered for then they have the option to go elsewhere. That's how the free market economy works and we all have to deal with it in our own way.
Club Redesign: Five questions to @jdcannon

To butt in a sec.
One could argue that you are looking at this 'wrong'. It is not so much "the site owners" who dictate the priory as it is the the members and what the vast majority need - because, as Martin said indicated, the 'daily' stuff is dwarfed by the sheer volume of people who play 'life games'. So, it really is the members in the end who are responsible for where the priorities go.
That said...I've said from the beginning of this 'mess', the 'old system' for all this team stuff needs to be reinstated and the problematic overhaul scrapped. Go back to where we were...and tweak as needed.
True. If the daily matches and their organising group were a larger percentage then that would become the de facto majority to be supported.

Pretty sure that is not going to happen.
Just one thing that you could do to reassure us that you are at least trying to improve things for us , is to reinstate the top players list for teams . This is such a valuable tool for people running busy teams . It is something that we were assured was definitely not gone for good, but we have been waiting for a long time now.
Other than early on, when Daily was the only thing available. I think daily clubs, while popular, are dwarfed in popularity to live games.
Not for the larger/serious competition clubs. These live clubs are usually small, regional clubs for people that came about due to covid. I'd say unless you are in one of these regional clubs, the main reason people join clubs is for daily chess or socializing.

So that’s the truth of it. They think our clubs are now outdated and not important and promote daily chess. Many clubs do play live events.
I do think the World Live Chess league played by national clubs is NOT small or insignificant.

That's why I said most.
Looking at the USA team, US Chess has tens of thousands of members and can barely get 10 people to join a live match. Team USA on the other hand which is exclusively for daily and vote chess can get 300+ people to play in a WL daily match. From experience, participation is just higher for daily events in most club just like this.
That said, I do hope chess.com improves ALL aspects of clubs. I'm not arguing for one or the other.
I'd actually like to see some metrics on this. Can any of the staff provide these metrics? Even just the raw data and I'll get the metrics. (Serious offer BTW)
It’s difficult to gauge. We run a couple of daily live events every day in Team Australia. Where as daily matches might get 400 people in them but are 15 days in join. Add up all those smaller numbers in live events every day plus live league matches and I’m sure it would compare.
It still isn’t apparent why clubs had this new software inflicted upon us to make everything even more challenging. If they want to sideline clubs at the site seems an unusual way to do this.
Ah but the wealthy owners have to take care of their vast Empire as well as enjoy themselves perhaps skiing, snowboarding or touring Europe.
We here are certainly not the priority...everything in the entire new design has been a complete fiasco for everyone involved. Whoever pulled the switch on this, opened the trap door beneath us so that the noose around our neck would take effect.⚰️

I mean in general, live games are the majority of site usage and clubs are utilized much less overall. Not that clubs do live events more.

So you are saying clubs are a sideline now, not popular enough and marginalised. Is that an official site view?

Fair enough. Can I still get the data out of curiosity?

I'm not saying that the site doesn't view clubs and daily chess as valuable to the site. That said, there are only so many developers and a lot of competing priorities for the site. As far as I'm aware, things are still progressing on the clubs front with fixes and enhancements related to clubs as well. Maybe not extremely quickly, but progressing.
