KR vs KRB is still a draw,so even black wasn't timeout, white cannot win...?
Crazyhouse : timeout vs. insufficient material
My example didn't indeed make much sense, I was thinking more about minihouse, but yeah that way too it wasn't very appropriate... because KRB vs literally everything else kind of is a loss.
OK, thanks ! I didn't know about that rule about the best moves, but yeah, this rule is often questioned, even in standard chess.
In any case, the currently algorithm is also very, at least to me, complex (detecting every time mate or stalemate or whatever) so adding extra restrictions would indeed really be hard.
Thanks for all your answers !
Hi everybody, I don't know if this is the right place to ask this, but I was wondering why this rule was present in the crazyhouse settings. Of course, once one player times out the game ends, but if the opponent only has a king left (or a Knight or Bishop, even though I didn't test these), then it is a draw, while he could still grab some pieces from his opponent, and make them appear. Imagine for example that white, with let's say a Bishop on the board and nothing else except for a king, forks two rooks. Then black could just wait for his clock to run out and time-out, while white has insufficient material ? I don't really get it...
If anyone could explain why this rule is as it is, it would be much appreciated... Thanks !
