Daily Chess Conditional Moves not working

Sort:

in two games recently I created conditional moves that did not trigger. Conditional moves have worked for me before.

Same here.  Recently I had reported this and gave all information I could think of to @jdcannon

Though, that was a few days ago and it seemed to have been working for a bit, I do not know the status at the moment as I have not noticed any of my games not triggering the conditional moves. Many, since the report, simply did not trigger because the opponent did not make the anticipated move.

I have yet to catch more games where the conditional moves have not triggered as expected.

Edit: Looking at my messages for the dates, this was just over a week ago.

in my games it worked though

Hey all! And thanks for having reported it before walidmujahid!

I checked on the status and it seems our developer have been having trouble reproducing this bug  It would be a big help we can collectively figure out exactly what is triggering the bug.

Has anyone noticed that only certain kinds of moves are not triggered? Like maybe it doesn't captures, or castling.  Or maybe the error only happens when your opponent also had conditional moves.

If we can figure our clear easy to reproduce steps I am confident we can get this solved asap

If anyone wants to challenge me to a daily game to help test, I would really appreciate it! I will do as many conditional moves as possible and see if we can figure out which ones are not working!

Well, one of the games I had sent you was a conditional move that was a capture, but the second games was not a capturing move.

I would be happy to send you and unrated challenge "Conditional Move Testing" to get this figured out, however, it would seem our settings to are not accepting challenges at the moment.

I sent you a challenge

Accepted

Not sure if this helps after the fact but it is a case where my opponent only had one legal move he could do after my move 28. d5+:

After 28. d5+ I created the conditional move 28... Kf6 29. g4 ... so I was surprised when I had to manually make the g4 move.

That is an excellent theory! I will test it out

Is it possible that when this happens, that your opponent moves while you were setting up your conditional moves? Like they moves too quickly for them you get them in?

No, something different happens. This has happened to me numerous time and every time a red alert bar pops up saying something the opponent has moved or that there has been activity in the game or there has been a change on the board. I do not exactly recall what the alert says, but it is something along those lines.

I tested this idea just now and it didn't break the conditional move :/  How often are conditional moves failing for you guys?

Can you give me a game link that conditional moves failed on and let me know what move failed? I want to try to recreate the exact game conditions that you mentioned it failed on.

Certainly. In the message I sent to you about 10 days ago, the first game I noticed wa sthis: https://www.chess.com/daily/game/168948272

Where I programmed that if my opponent made 26. Qxh5 then I would do 26... Kg8 3

The second game was https://www.chess.com/daily/game/168948246

I programmed a string of moves to happen on 24... Kxg7 but it never triggered.

Not in my case. However, I'll will make an effort to do conditionals regularly from now on and try to see if it happens again and if there is a pattern.

I have another example of the feature not working just now, today, Friday, July 28, around 12:00 EDT.

https://www.chess.com/daily/game/170789860

I programmed on move 21, that if 20. fxe5 then 21...Rxe5 and I had the line go further. The first move happened, but I had to manually move 21. Rxe5. I also had a conditional line set for move 20 just before this, but because the opponent did not move the programmed piece, it did not trigger.

Just happened again for me (0 for 3 so far):

https://www.chess.com/daily/game/170718868

I programmed 9. e4 -> Bg4 but it didn't trigger.

I'm going to set up conditionals for the next moves - I'll post when I'm done - so you can monitor it. Hopefully I'll cover all possible moves.... though in all the cases where it has failed I've only set up one line.

Can you screenshot them so we have prove for devs in case they didn't work? Wold be amazing to have screenshot showing the conditional moves and then another one showing position where conditional move was not activated.
