Wahoo! I'm gonna have to start playing this.
Danish, Danish, and more Danish!
The funny thing is, I don't usually play 1. e4 at all, much less an opening where it gets really tactical really fast. I usually stick with the English as white and to combat 1. e4 as black, I normally employ the Caro-Kann and the French.
Yeah I know that it was the Goring Gambitking, but I transposed into a Half-Danish from it. I like the transposition from the 2. Nf3, Nc6 line since in addition to having both bishops developed if he does full Danish, I have the knight developed. So these ARE Half and Full Danishes, just with a different move order! Anyway, thank you. I'm not going to keep playing it, but I figured I might as well give myself a tactical workout for a couple days!
Okay okay, the Danish is 1. e4 1.e5 2. d4 2.exd4 3.c3 and the Goring is 1. e4 1.e5 2. Nf3 2.Nc6 3. d4 3. exd4 4. c3 and the scotch is 1. e4 1.e5 2. Nf3 2.Nc6 3. d4 3. exd4 4. Nxd4. I'm nobody, but I think the King's Gambit is king if you're gonna play a gambit. I also like the Evans. But... the Goring is definitely nice, and when ya think about it... so is the Danish.
Thank you. Thank you. I have never played, or even heard of Danish till you posted this. I wan't to thank you again. Right at the moment I was chess dead, you saved me. I i did not have so much fun for ages.
You're welcome Streptomicin. I've only been playing for two years, and I decided to have a brief spell with the Danish Gambit to give myself a tactical workout. I think it helped. It wasn't necessarily more fun than my usual positional style, which is characterized by my opening choices: English for white, French & Caro-Kann vs. 1. e4, and the Nizmo Indian, Queen's Indian, and Dutch vs. 1. d4, but it certainly was different.
A whole mess of Danishes and Half-Danishes. Surprisingly, all were wins! the first few were all against the same guy, so that's why Black's rating got progressively lower. The last set were some unrated games against a friend.
