The Balls
Basketball
The basketball is a blocker that must go through a preset number of hoops (1, 2 or more) in any order or a specified order.
EDIT: It can be passed to a friendly piece that eyes the square where the basketball is held or stolen by a piece that captures the possessing piece. Capturing a piece has different rules when inside the court: it sends the possessor back to the square it started at the beginning of the game, whether inside or outside the court. If it started inside, it is protected from capture until it moves again. The bucket is scored when the possessing piece touches the hoop (as long as the piece follows its natural movement), for a predefined number of points, but if an opposing piece touches the hoop on the same turn they steal it and take it back to their previous square.
(Diagram coming later)
More balls are coming. This post will be updated later on.
The Atoms
Helium — Allows a piece to jump over an obstacle instead of capturing it, depending on how much it accumulates from the board. It is collected by landing on top of the tile.
Sodium — Any piece that has certain movements in restricted form (i.e. cN or fsR) can remove the modifiers of those certain movements for 10 moves by collecting sodium from three different deposits.
Carbon — Spreads if no one clears it by moving a piece directly on top of it any turn. If it fills up a certain space, the game ends immediately for all players.
More elements are planned.

I like the odeia of special effects but maybe make them more general? for example, Helium doesn't get instructions on how to collect it, Sodium has a custom amount of moves it affects and Carbon is just a composite thing maybe we shouldn't be considering as the same as the other two atoms
I'd be really impressed if anything actually happened with this in the future ngl has been dead for so long

1. Helium does have instructions, underlined above.
2. How is carbon composite?
3. I did not use these atoms for simple functions. I use normal objects for those purposes instead, and apply the atoms only for complex positional ideas in certain games.
Video games like Candy Crush Saga also spark ideas for me:
— Glue: a tile that encases a piece and prevents it from moving. When destroying a layer, the piece moves on it (it must be in the form of its capturing movement) and then back to where it was just before the destruction.
Glue also blocks off effects of other pieces. It cannot be moved into or through.
— Magic Dome: another encasing blocker that will usually apply to only one player/pair. This one cannot be moved on or through and can’t be removed with natural piece effects. It must be removed by completing the requirements mentioned on it (like doing a certain number of checkmates, promoting pawn/pieces a certain amount of times, capturing points, etc.
The “precise order” is a special one that makes the most sense with points. It means that all the captures from a player/pair must add up to exactly the labeled amount of points at one point in the order they happened and do not go over the requirement.)
