My toothpaste contains B12. I have no idea if it works.
Dietary supplements of Vitamin B12 for Vegans
The vitamin B12 is absorbed only in stomach & intestine !
"Methyl-B12 is absorbed by an intestinal mechanism using intrinsic factor and by a diffusion process in which approximately 1% of the oral dose is absorbed.[58] The human physiology of vitamin B12 is complex, and therefore is prone to mishaps leading to vitamin B12 deficiency. Protein-bound vitamin B12 must be released from the proteins by the action of digestive proteases in both the stomach and small intestine.[59] Gastric acid releases the vitamin from food particles; therefore antacidand acid-blocking medications (especially proton-pump inhibitors) may inhibit absorption of B12. In addition some elderly people produce less stomach acid as they age thereby increasing their probability of B12 deficiencies.[60]
Absorption of food vitamin B12 thus requires an intact and functioning stomach, exocrine pancreas, intrinsic factor, and small bowel. Problems with any one of these organs makes a vitamin B12 deficiency possible."

Hey, don't scare me! They tested it, seems to be quite efficient.
Sorry, in German... https://vebu.de/aktuelles/news/1274-gut-versorgt-durch-vitamin-b12-zahncreme
Thanks for the article !
But they have mentioned that some subjects didn't show the desired effects !So,to be on a safer side,it is always better to keep a check up of the blood status once in a year !
Hi, just to add to this: you can buy nutritional flakes (kind of like Brewer's Yeast) which are rich in vitamin B12. They're my main source of B12. They're great with pasta dishes, soups and rice dishes; they add a cheesy flavour to any dish, so if you're missing cheese this is the product for you!
As a caveat, you should not buy Brewer's Yeast alone, as it's not a source of B12, (though some Brewer's Yeast providers do add B12 to their products, but read the label before you buy it!).
To get b12 from nutritional yeast it has to be fortified. Also most non dairy milk products are fortified so are most meat substitutes, veggie burgers/hotdogs and groundround type things. I really thought there was some truth to sublingual b12 Ill have to look more into it. One cup of fortified non dairy milk has 50% rdi for b12 of a 2000 calorie diet.
That is true, it does need to be fortified in order to get the B12; I thought I'd linked to a fortified version of the product. Fortified NY is not hard to find, particularly online.
Anyway, for those who want a quick look at Nutritional Yeast, here's a treehugger article on it.
I just want to share this experience !
I had been a vegetarian from birth & a vegan since 1996 !
Since i was aware that my diet is lacking in vitamin B12 ,about 10 yrs ago ,i just asked a physician whether i need to take it as an oral supplement & he dismissed it saying i am talking about all bookish things !
Last year,i was suffering from severe anemia (Hb- 6 mg)& when i went to another physician who ,after knowing that i am vegan ,asked me to perform a peripheral smear test & found that almost all of my R.B.C. s were replaced by those in a premature stage (megaloblastic anemia) !(Viatamin B12 acts as an enzyme to help DNA to form new RBCs& if there is a deficiency of B12 ,all the RBCs that are formed remain in a premature stage ,thus hampering their oxygen carrying capacity !)
He immediately prescribed me a schedule of 10 intramuscular injections which brought my blood status back to normal !
Now ,i am taking a daily dose of B12 orally after my meals !
Thanks to my physician Dr. Kadu ,whose timely advice prevented more serious consequences of B12 deficiency in the form of nervous symptoms which are irreversible !
