true, i worked hard to get to almost 2600 and im back at early 2400
Do you think the puzzle rating system is unfair?
In puzzles, the higher you go, the less points you get, and more points you lose when you make a mistake. It doesn’t seem so bad as highly rated puzzlers are more seasoned or practiced chess players. But, picture this. You’re a 4000 rated puzzler. You solved so many puzzles tirelessly and you made it to 4100 (5 points for each correct puzzle), but you accidentally made a mistake… and another… and another….Until you’re back at 4000. This is by personal experience. You can lose anywhere between 25-38 ish points each time you get a puzzle wrong, and you don’t get more points if you get a harder puzzle correct! Do you agree that this is unfair?
there may be higher rated puzzles just in case some players are too higher rated.

It’s annoying. Since the update, the way you get puzzles has completely changed. I’m rated 3400, but now I’m only getting puzzles in the 1800–2400 range. Before, I was getting ones much closer to my actual rating, and it actually felt like I was learning and being challenged. Now it just feels like I’m farming low-rated tactics instead of improving

Here are some details about the updates from staff about the update:
We are currently working on a significant overhaul of our puzzle difficulty system and puzzle ratings. Over time, the current puzzle rating algorithm created highly inflated puzzle ratings for our members — and consequent inaccurate estimates of a puzzle difficulty. As we roll out our new system, you may see some inconsistencies in your puzzle stats, and rating changes from puzzles solved and missed may be greater than in the past.
We ask you to wait with us just a bit longer! Since in the coming weeks we will be publishing an entirely new rating system for puzzles for all members. We’re confident it will be a major steps towards our ultimate goals:
- Provide a more meaningful rating which correlates more closely to player’s Blitz and Rapid ratings.
- Serve puzzles better suited for each player’s level.
- Offer options to member who are looking for different puzzle-solving experiences.
