Friends....Can anyone tell me what is FIDE and what is to be fulfilled to get a title??

FIDE is the world chess federation. FIDE rating is often referred to as ELO, even though technically ELO is just the rating system FIDE is using.

You get a FIDE rating by playing otb games that are ELO-rated (easiest done by playing ELO-rated tournaments).

When it comes to titles there are titles given by FIDE and the NM title (national master) which is given by the national chess federation. Apart from the NM title, the easiest title to get for males is CM (candidate master) which you get by achieving an ELO rating of 2200 or more. For females the easiest title to get is WCM when you need an ELO rating of 2000 or more.

More about titles can be read here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIDE_titles

K Martin ..how to participate in ELO rated tournaments??

Avatar of Martin0

You find a tournament, sign up and play. Some tournaments can be found here: http://www.aicf.in/calendar/

Just click on any tournament and then click on "download details" and you should get all information you need. If your having problems, then maybe you could contact the organisers of a tournament your interested in or ask someone in a local chess club to help you or something. Since I have never played in India I am clearly not the right person to ask.
