Draw questions

I get that these situations should be rare, but especially when there are 2 players remaining they really can happen.

  1. What happens when a player is put into stalemate?
  2. What happens with 3-fold repetition?
  3. Is there any insufficient material rules? (like king vs king endgame)
  4. Any 50 moves rule?
  5. If we are in an endgame with knight vs rook and the player with rook does not want to give up points by trading to king vs king endgame is there any way to end the game (draw offer or 50 move rule or just play until either player timeouts)?

right now drawing rules are limited. There is no such thing as stalemate at the moment. If a player is unable to move they are considered to be in mate. There is no 50 move rule or 3 repetition. There is limited insufficient material rules that will end the game immediately, but draws are ultimately determined by points

Ok, thanks for answering. Regarding the stalemate, how does that work in terms of points and is it considered mate at the start of that players turn or as soon as he has no moves available? Can I get 15 points if I make a move and manage to stalemate myself?

battleMind24

Im not 100% sure, but you shouldn't be able to get points for stalemating yourself

battleMind24

I think it's considered mate as soon as the move is played

Ok, thanks again for answers.

You may want to consider it a bug. One player just stalemated himself in a game I played and he got 15 points.

I posted an example in the 4 players tactics forum. The thing posted there was basically what happened. A player with only king left responded to a check by walking to a square he was stalemated and he got 15 points and was eliminated. He did steal second place from me because of that, but I mostly thought it was funny grin.png

battleMind24

wow that's hilarious! probably will go down as a bug

Unless you want to leave it as a secret tactic - but maybe it's best fixed. grin.png

battleMind24

I sort of like it as an obscure tactic haha ;D

we just got a points draw (both tied on 70 points)- there was no decision on who won yet!
