i've seen this as well
Edit box cursor disappears
I know that was an issue in Firefox 9 and 10. It can happen in certain versions of Chrome as well. Especially if the text area is resized (the bottom right hand corner). There are a couple different "fixes" that can be applied from the server side, I'll test a few with FF 9 & 10. IE 9 is another culprit, but it's a definitley a problem with the browser itself.

This may in fact be a browser bug, but only the new beta version(s) of chess.com expose it. I do not have this probem with chess.com "classic" nor on any other website I've used so far. I'm on FF 10.0.2 now, and while typing this text, the up-arrow scrolls the whole screen, not the text, while the left arrow makes the cursor disappear completely until I click in the edit box with the mouse to restore it. It's pretty (make that really) awkward!

When entering a comment in the forum, in what I believe is called an "edit box control" in old WIndows GUI programming parlance, the cursor sometimes disappears entirely on me. This makes it rather difficult to edit my comments! It doesn't happen *all* the time (cursor is properly present as I type this), but *sometimes* goes away (it disappeared on the post I wrote a minute ago about tactics trainer). I suspect that the left/right/up/down cursor keys might trigger the disappearance but I can't yet figure out a sequence to reproduce it. Firexfox 10.0.1 and also 9.something.
