 Well Team England have said that we are here to play chess and wanted to set up another match here. Russia appear to want to use the WL game..Not sure how to resolve that??

IMHO, I would say that should be negociated and clearified before starting the match.

For instance, Russia and Spain have agreed to use our recently iniciated match for both tournaments. (before we locked the rosters)

The rules here says that any team match played on the WL will be taken for the EL too... but maybe it would be better to allow team leaders to decide on that.

btw, it is weird but I can't find that rule right now... :/

The general rule is: "Already finished or currently ongoing WL2010-games within the World League OPEN CATEGORY (that fullfil the team match settings) will be counted as EL-2010 games." However, the rules also state the more detailed instructions will be available when it's time for new rounds. (Linkt to the rules:

Within the last instruction for Round 2 was following stated regarding this:
"Note! Any matches that are ongoing in the World League between the teams will automatically be counted as games within the European League as well.
However, if both teams agree upon that are they allowed to setup new team matches and counting them instead." (Link to the instructions: http://www.chess.com/groups/forumview/el2010---instructions-for-round-2 )

So the basic rule is that WL-games are counted as EL-games automatically, but could be replaced by another game if both teams agree upon that.

So if the both teams cannot agree upon setup another game, then will the WL-game be counted as EL-games. In this case it seem like the teams couldn't agree upon starting another game before the deadline, and therefor will the WL-game be counted automatically as a EL-game since it couldn't be replaced by another game between the teams. And, it would also be too late now to startup any another game between the teams that could replace the WL-game.

The idea behind this rule, is to avoid force the European teams to setup games against the same opponents in parallell at the same moment. We also want to promote and make it possible for all European teams to succesfully participate both in WL and EL.

 If there's a need of clarify the current rules, then I'm open for consider do that, i.e. in the very next instructions for next round (3), that will be sent out later on today.
I'm also open for improvements of this rule for the next season.

The rules are now clear to me and although in Team England we would have been keen to play a second game, I now understand that as Russia don't want to, then they have the right to use the World League games. From my own point of view, I would have enjoyed the opportunity to play Russia a second time in an important league game (Sadly, looking at how strong their team is, the odds would be with Russia to win both matches), but it is always great to meet and play stronger players.

I would also have been keen to put the effort in to beat record for the number of players in a match :>)

We decided to leave E.L. after the unfair forfeit with team Romania.

Hope that we won't cause major problems to E.L. with this decision.My friend Johanpalmaer is doing great work

Such explanation may had clarified any missunderstandings.

Some basics to the teams: We're running the EL2010-rules more striktly this very season, and if a deadline for starting the games have passed and any team have complained about that the other team haven't accepted the challenge or not locked their rosters, then we simple try to follow the rules. This is a chess tournament and it should be an exiting and entertaining happening, so we perheps need to consider how to improve (or simplify) the rules so that we keep it like that - when it's time for EL2011.
It would had be good if it had been more easily to setup deadlines for accepting and locking the rosters when creating challanges, but till then we need to apply reasonable rules that don't delay the match starts and the tournament schedules too much. This is also applicable for other tournaments, i.e. the World League etc. Well well..

Let's proceed this tournament. I will make a note about Team Greece decision to leave this tournament, and all games towards them will be discounted and all games against them in the upcoming rounds will be removed. This will done when it's time to update the current results and standings next time.

I wish Team Greece good luck, and welcome back to EL another season.
