Engine Evaluation

I'm trying to get the "Engine Evaluation" bar to show up in my live chess games (see second screenshot for reference).  I turned on the engine evaluation option in live chess settings.

I can see it when I watch other people's games in live chess, if I select the "evaluation" tab at the top of the game screen, but I have to turn this on every time I select to view a new game in progress.

Is there a way to have the engine evaluation show up permanently in my live games?

I primarily use the Opera web browser, but I did try Firefox, to see if it was a browser issue.  Unfortunately, I have the same result with Firefox (no evaluation bar in live chess games).

I don't think you should be able to.

In your own live games in progress, you're not supposed to have hints of any kind.

In Chess History, this was some of the scandals about "Micro hints".

"If you have any type of clue about your position, it changes what you look at". I think one of them was "the color of the yogourt" encoding like 3 bits of data.

So if an Engine Eval sez "you're losing", you play "Don't Lose Bro" moves.

If Engine sez you're "Winning", and you don't see it, you either try a spec sac or look hard to "find PART of the win".

@MidnightRhino  This is a very good point you mentioned! happy.png  Thanks for sharing.

If you were able to have a an engine evaluation during your own live games, it would essentially be seen as a way of indirectly cheating.  Since even small hints during your game, could have a significant impact on the moves you decide to make.

It works fine for me. Try using Chrome; that's what I use.

@Scott187  The engine evaluation works for you in live chess when you are currently playing a game?

yep

@Scott187 Ok. Thanks for letting me know. I'll download Chrome and see if it works for me.

@Scott187  I just tried Chrome.  It didn't work for me.  I think @MidnightRhino is correct with his comment.  If you haven't read it, take a look, it'll make a lot of sense what I mean.

You should not see it for your own games until its over.

Do you have issues with it when you are watching other people's games?

i do

So the issue is that when you turn it on, it doesn't stay on though the next game?

the issue is that when you turn it on in settings, you still have to do it manually in a game

@jdcannon  I have the same problem.  I have the setting enabled in main settings, but when I watch a live game, I have to manually select the evaluation feature, in order to see the bar.  See screenshot below.

I would assume the engine evaluation should automatically appear in a live game - if you're observing someone else's game - as long as you have the feature turned on in your main settings.  It's just kind of annoying if you have to manually turn it on each time you view a new game.
