Hello everyone,

A few upcoming events:

1) Our Goring Gambit tournament starting 12/1 is full, so if you want to play, send me a message and I'll increase the size limits.

2) On 1/1 we will play the Jaenisch Gambit (signup here: https://www.chess.com/tournament/euler-039-s-all-openings-36-jaenisch-gambit)

3) On 2/1 we will play the Barnes Opening (signup here: https://www.chess.com/tournament/euler-039-s-all-openings-37-barnes-opening)

We also will have a team match scheduled for 12/15 that will be up shortly. Don't know what happened with our last opponent, but they didn't have enough players to make it a good matchup. But in our other matchup, @Isa-ben-maryem is fighting for a win up a pawn. If he converts, he will secure us the draw vs the Vive le France club.

Hoping to get the chance to play you guys!

Hey Everyone,

New Year, new opportunities to improve! On a personal note, I managed to reach my goal last year of hitting 2000 in all the live time controls. This year I will try to put more of an emphasis on daily, and also make 2000 my "floor" for bullet, blitz, and rapid.

As for the club, we have a few events coming up. As always, feel free to send me any recommendations or desired openings and I will schedule them.

1) We will have a team match 2/15 coming up, so keep your eyes open for that. Our January match is going good, make sure to root for @ErgoStraaf76 @framburgo and @Mattycamb05 in their remaining games in their remaining games.

2) On 3/1 we will play the Alapin Sicilian (signup here: https://www.chess.com/tournament/euler-039-s-all-openings-38-alapin-sicilian)

3) On 4/1 we will play the Hungarian (signup here: https://www.chess.com/tournament/euler-039-s-all-openings-39-hungarian-opening)

Hoping to get some interesting games with you all, and have good representation from our club.

2) On 5/1 we will play the Berlin, where I'm curious how our draw rate will compare to the pros (signup here: https://www.chess.com/tournament/euler-039-s-all-openings-40-berlin-draw)

3) On 6/1 we will play Clemenz Opening (signup here: https://www.chess.com/tournament/euler-amp-039-s-all-openings-41-clemenz-opening)

I am looking for suggestions for black openings, especially gambits, as I usually alternate months where the focus is on whites opening choice vs blacks. We are nearing the end of all possible white openings, just 4 more after June!

Hey Everyone,

Happy belated New Year! A few upcoming events in addition to our monthly team match that will be up shortly.

1) On 3/1, we will play the Normal variation of the Sicilian Taimanov. I will pretty much always play into these sorts of positions if white allows me, so looking forward to this one. The signup is here: https://www.chess.com/tournament/eulers-all-openings-48-benko-gambit

4) On 4/1, we will play the mainline of the Vienna Gambit. Black has wiseline declined the f-pawn and played for the center themselves. Lots of interesting ideas for black to annoy white, but if white can castle without too much harm, I favor that side! The signup is here: https://www.chess.com/tournament/eulers-all-openings-51-vienna-gambit-mainline

2) On 5/1, we will play the Hartlaub-Charlick Gambit. The computer says that black has no compensation, but in my experience, black has great practical chances, especially if white doesn't get the "meta" of the opening. Inspired by Anderssen's "Immortal Game" https://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1018910. Hey Everyone,

A few upcoming events in addition to our monthly team match that will be up shortly. Hoping we get some better turnout for the daily tournaments than we've had the last couple!

1) On 6/1, we will play a variation of the King's Gambit in the style of old, where white allows black to prevent castling by bringing his bishop out early. Inspired by Anderssen's "Immortal Game" https://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1018910. The signup is here: https://www.chess.com/tournament/eulers-all-openings-53-kings-gambit-accepted-bishop-gambit2) On 7/1, we will try to consolidate against an opening I'm sure some of you have run across... the "tilt special". White sacrifices a piece out of the opening to prevent black from castling and to take out their frustrations. A bad move for sure, but it is not an automatic win for black by any means (hence why I want to practice it; I've fallen victim to it more than once), and one misstep allows white to really cause some damage. The signup is here: https://www.chess.com/tournament/eulers-all-openings-54-tilt-defense

Hope to get some fun games with you all!
