Explorer database has only OLD games?

Can it be true that the explorer database has no more recent games than 1945 for 1. e4 e5 ?

1939 was the polish opening? o_O

My guess is that the search pulls a maximum number of entries. There are over 200,000 games with that position. Whether that is by design or a bug, I can't say, but pulling 200,000+ games has to be a bit resource intensive. 

If you follow a line, you'll see that they only return links for positions that have around 10,000 games. The line I looked at was around 9,800. Based on that, the site likely limits returning 10,000 records.

I see games from 2012 in the Najdorf.

Thank you. There was another thread the other day making the assertion that all the games were old. 

I don't expect it to be as up to date as paid databases but it would be great if it were relatively up to date.

its not that db is not up to date. Its that the search only returns 10k records. 

It would be better if you searched for a slightly deeper position.
