Hey,

I like the general feel of the app. Smooth and quite fast for a beta. General look is good, too, though obviously needs touching up a little.

Comparing it to the iPhone app (my turns has it next to me right now), it has a red number symbol on the app's picture with a number inside when an opponent has made a move.

Also, his phone updated roughly 10 seconds after i made my move via your app. I'm still waiting for his move to come through on ny phone - having typed this mail on my phone in the meantime. The only way it updates, seemingly, is to crash it via task mgr and then restart it.

The iphone app also has a tournaments and stats page. I guess you know of these anyhow?

Ps: the iPhone seems to update every 20 seconds or so.

Navigating to the home page simply switches from the list of current
games (still showing two out of date games) and the last game I made a
move on. So the only way to get an update is by ending the program via
task mgr and then restarting it.

Also - I have noted another fault. After playing it for a while, it
crashes. I will note down the text (a little lengthier than before)
when it next happens and post it here. Upon restarting the app, it
then cannot find any internet connection and goes back to the username
/ pw screen. Upon entering these, it usually works normally until it crashes
again.

Re the game polling (notification of my turn on the app symbol(?)) - I'd say that it's
pretty important. Saves people going mad checking the app every few
seconds.

I don't think playing vs a computer is much of a priority for me.
Tactics trainer is slightly more important, although the Chess Mentor
more so. Second to the actual games are the video lessons online - I
absolutely love watching these and if they could be incorporated in
some manner than that'd be amazing.

Tournament screen and stats page are just nice little add-ons - not
essential, as I'm sure most HD2 / windows users can just navigate to the page on Opera / internet browser if they really want to see these. It may be better to leave these and concentrate on other things, as these are likely to be the least essential items. I'd much rather have more useful items that I'll look at all the time - although I guess if I ever start winning tournaments then I'll be looking at the leadership tables more!!

Ah - one other thing is that I like to wait on some games until I have
proper time to think. This means that I might want to wait on 5/10/15
games at a time - but if I do this on the chess app, I won't be able
to see the games available to me other than the first 5 that I'm
'waiting' on. Perhaps that can be altered somehow? I think the iPhone has the whole list of games on their app available to click on and play. That'd be swell. Otherwise, perhaps a button that allows us to 'ignore' the game for 5/10/20 minutes whilst we answer the other games. If that saves on memory then that might be a good alternative.

What could be nice is if, when you open the app, it automatically brings up the daily puzzle. Could be a nice little treat - possible with an option to turn it off if necessary.

Just an idea :-]

[EDIT] Probably an annoying one ;-)

great feedback! Thanks.

The app currently doesn't automatically update - will do that next.

Definately agree you need to see all of your games - not just the first 5. Ultimately, I want a scrolling screen like the iphone app, but for now, I think I'll add some page navigation buttons.

I don't think the API currently supports it, but daily puzzle support is a great idea! Reckon the iphone/android users would appreciate it too.
